A Little About Me

Calhoun County has always been home to me. I grew up in Alexandria, attended Alexandria schools, and graduated from Alexandria High School. This is where I built my life, raised my family, started my business, and spent much of my life serving the community.
For more than 25 years, I’ve worked as a general contractor and municipal utility contractor. I started B&B Developers, LLC in 1999, and through that work I’ve had the opportunity to build roads, infrastructure, and development projects throughout Calhoun County.
That experience has given me a practical understanding of what it takes to plan projects, manage budgets, solve problems, and complete work that communities depend on every day. It has also allowed me to work in communities across the county and see firsthand both the opportunities we have and the challenges we face.
For the past 14 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving on the Calhoun County Board of Education, including six years as chairman. During that time, I’ve worked alongside fellow board members, educators, administrators, parents, and community leaders while helping oversee and balance multi-million-dollar budgets and make decisions affecting our schools and students.
Education has always been especially important to me. Each year, I’ve donated my Board of Education salary back to our schools, and I created the Tobi Burt Career Ready Scholarship to help students continue their education and prepare for successful careers. To date, I’ve been fortunate to provide more than $100,000 in scholarships.
My involvement in Calhoun County has never been limited to one position or organization. Over the years, I’ve coached youth sports, been involved with my church, served on local water and fire department boards, supported law enforcement, and worked with organizations and projects focused on making our communities stronger.
I believe public service is about responsibility. It means listening to people, being accessible, understanding the issues facing our communities, and being willing to put in the work to find solutions.
As Commissioner-Elect for District 4, I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the county that has given so much to me. Before I take office on November 11, I’m spending time listening to residents throughout District 4, learning more about their priorities, and preparing for the work ahead.
This is home. I’m proud of where we’ve been, excited about where we can go, and ready to continue serving the people of Calhoun County.
